The very first Ludlow Castle Comedy Festival wrapped up with laughs and good spirits, even after an unexpected break in the show due to stormy weather.

Organisers have thanked everyone who attended and praised festivalgoers for their calm and cooperation during a precautionary evacuation caused by nearby lightning strikes.

A temporary show stop was put in place as part of the venue’s pre-planned response to adverse weather.

Safety experts monitoring the conditions advised a controlled evacuation when lightning was detected within key distances set out in the event’s Lightning Plan.

The venue was safely reopened and the comedy continued once the storm had passed.
