Police in the West Midlands have arrested a woman after stolen items were being posted to social media in an attempt to sell them.

Officers were in the Dudley area when they were alerted to stolen goods being sold in the vicinity.

Searches through social media, together with staff of affected shops in the area, revealed that some of the items were being sold online.

Investigations were triggered and after some initial enquiries, police arrived at an address in Lower Gornal, where they arrested a 38-year-old woman on suspicion of handling stolen goods.

The woman has since been bailed, pending further enquiries from West Midlands Police, as the incident is now being dealt as part of the force's Mischief Fortnight scheme.

Officers made it clear that shops should feel comfortable to report any crime to the police, who will investigate the incident and find people who are responsible.
