A disqualified driver has been jailed after crashing into the wall of a property in Parkfields, Wolverhampton and failing to stop for the police.
Mohammed Chowdhury was driving a Volvo, when local neighbourhood officers from West Midlands Police attempted to stop him on Windsor Road on 9 November. He failed to stop and as a result, crashed into the wall on Myrtle Street.
Chowdhury hurried off the scene, however was arrested the following afternoon in Smethwick after the local neighbourhood team made enquiries. He was then charged with driving whilst disqualified, criminal damage, failing to stop for police, and driving without insurance.
On Wednesday (12 Nov) the 27-year-old pleaded guilty and was jailed at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court for 18 weeks.
Sergeant Marc Buller, from Ettingshall, Blakenhall and Springvale Neighbourhood Team, said:
"We know that road safety is an important issue for our residents and it great for us as local officers to be able to do our part to get an offender like this off the streets."
