Devlopment rights to be checked for solar panels at Telford’s Princess Royal Hospital
5,200 panels are planned for the roof
Health chiefs have asked planners to check that they have permitted development rights to install 5,200 solar panels on roofs at Telford’s Princess Royal Hospital.
Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) has told Telford & Wrekin Council that all installations on the site at Grainger Drive, Apley, will adhere to permitted development requirements.
Technical information from other projects completed by Cornwall based ZLC Energy Ltd have been submitted to council planners as part of the check for prior approval.
SaTH has told the council that solar photovoltaic panels are to be installed on the roofs of The Princess Royal Hospital. They include roofs that are both flat and pitched.
The need to apply to the local planning authority for prior approval is a condition of legislation to ensure that the only appropriate proposals are eligible.
Details of the prior approval application can be found on the Telford & Wrekin Council planning portal with the reference TWC/2026/0269.
