Couple jailed after stealing from dying man in Dudley

A couple have been jailed after stealing from a man as he laid dying in a doorway.

Emergency services were called to Himley Street, Dudley on 15th December 2024 to reports a man was having a heart attack, lying on the floor outside an address.

Whilst CPR was being carried out, officers saw a man leave the victim's address with a shopping bag.

A woman also stood near the victim with a rucksack.

They both left the scene and returned without the bags.

It was later discovered they stole his phone, smart watch, flat keys, tablet, headphones, newspaper, man bag, laptop, paperwork and wallet.

47-year-old Jason Pettit pleaded guilty to burglary with intent to steal and theft from a person.

He was sentenced to three-years-and-eight-months in prison.

42-year-old Jodie Westwood pleaded guilty to theft from a person.

She was jailed for two-years-and-five-months.
