Shropshire man banned from driving for performing dangerous car stunts
Corey Church wheel span through red traffic lights and performed donuts
A Shropshire man has been handed a 15-month driving ban for dangerous driving linked to illegal car meets across the county.
Corey Church, 19, of Racecourse Crescent in Shrewsbury, previously pleaded guilty to two counts of dangerous driving and one count of perverting the course of justice.
The court heard how footage showed Church driving dangerously by wheel spinning through red traffic lights on Abbey Foregate in Shrewsbury on 4 December 2025.
Another video showed Church performing stunts including donuts and drifting in the car park of Tesco in Shrewsbury on 16 January 2026.
Church was issued with a Notice of Intended Prosecution, but gave false details through a third party about who was driving the car in both videos.
Enquiries showed it was Church and he was charged.
Church was also handed a 20-month sentence, suspended for two years.
He must also pass an extended driving retest, complete 100 hours of unpaid work and pay £1,000 in court fees.
PC Mark Smith, from roads policing, said: "Church's driving was extremely dangerous and showed a complete disregard for the safety of other road users and members of the public.
"Wheeling spinning through a red light on a busy road and carrying out stunts such as drifting and donuts in a public car park are not harmless acts. This kind of behaviour puts lives at risk and will not be tolerated.
"When given the opportunity to take responsibility for his actions, Church instead attempted to mislead officers by providing false information about who was driving the vehicle."
