Thief banned from Peterborough shopping centre after stealing toys worth hundreds of pounds
Daniela Dumitru admitted the thefts and received a suspended sentence
A 23-year-old woman has been banned from Queensgate shopping centre in Peterborough after targeting several stores for theft.
Daniela Dumitru, of Lime Kiln Close, West Town, admitted stealing toys worth nearly £350 from TK Maxx in Queensgate on 27th November. She was arrested later the same day near the city centre on Lincoln Road.
Dumitru also admitted stealing items from Sostrene Grene in Queensgate on two separate occasions in July (21st and 23rd), and a balloon from Cards Direct on 25th July.
Appearing at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on 28th November, Dumitru was sentenced to 10 weeks in prison, suspended for a year, and ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work.
The court also issued a three-year Criminal Behaviour Order preventing her from entering Queensgate shopping centre.
PC Joe Malton, from the Spree Offender Team, said: “Dumitru repeatedly targeted shops in Queensgate so I hope this CBO will reassure local businesses and help to prevent further thefts.
“We will continue to work with local businesses to identify thieves and bring them before the courts.”
Anyone with information about Dumitru breaching the Criminal Behaviour Order is urged to contact police online at www.cambs.police.uk/report or call 101 if unable to access the internet.
