Essential maintenance on Stamford Town Bridge is scheduled to commence on 1st September 2026, lasting up to six weeks.

The project involves cleaning and repointing the bridge's soffit, with all work conducted underneath the structure, ensuring traffic through the town remains unaffected.

Working hours are 07:30 to 16:00, Monday through Friday, with no work planned during weekends.

Temporary parking restrictions will be in place to facilitate safe and efficient progress, including the suspension of eight parking bays on Bath Row throughout the project.

Additionally, eight more bays at Bath Row car park's eastern end will be suspended on the first and last days for the delivery and removal of temporary pontoons.

Advance warning signs will notify motorists of exact parking bay suspensions.

Cllr David East, Executive Member for Highways at LCC, acknowledged potential minor disturbances during the work.

East stated that specialist teams will strive to minimise any disruption and thanked the community for their patience.

These works aim to preserve Stamford Town Bridge's condition for the foreseeable future.
