South Kesteven District Council is drawing up a new plan to deal with a build-up of complaints made against councillors.

The authority is considering investigating one complaint where multiple people have raised the same concern, rather than handling each report separately.

Monitoring officer Graham Kitchen says the approach could help reduce delays.

But some members of the council’s standards committee have questioned whether the change could mean some complaints are not fully considered.

Councillor Virginia Moran said several people making the same complaint could give it added weight, while committee chair Councillor Pam Byrd said she did not want issues to be lost under the new process.

Mr Kitchen said every complaint would continue to be looked at individually and decisions would depend on the facts of each case.

Thirty new complaints were received between March eleventh and September ninth.

Six were still being processed, while none had moved beyond the initial investigation stage.
