Police caution rural community in Rutland and Leicestershire over hidden stolen vehicles
Alert issued as stolen property is recovered from rural locations
Rural areas in Rutland and Leicestershire are being urged by police to remain vigilant about stolen vehicles and property concealed in less visible locations.
The Leicestershire & Rutland Rural Policing Team has released a warning to landowners, farmers, walkers, riders, and members of the public, detailing the potential hiding spots of stolen goods.
Locations such as dense woodland, standing crops, disused buildings, remote fields, and overgrown areas can often serve as concealment spots for items including trailers, quad bikes, plant machinery, agricultural equipment, and vehicles.
The policing team has stressed the importance of reporting anything that appears out of place or suspicious.
They highlighted the successful recovery of a stolen quad bike hidden in thick woodland earlier this morning, contributing to a total of £1.5 million worth of recovered goods this year.
With community input being crucial to investigations, authorities are relying on observations from the public to aid in the recovery of stolen items and prevent further crimes.
Police have advised reporting any suspicious activity via 101 or 999 in emergencies or if a crime is in progress.
