Rutland County Council has been hailed as the best authority in the country for caring for vulnerable adults.

Out of 150 councils, Rutland’s adult social care department, was named best in four categories.

Rutland County Council was ranked top for quality of life, satisfaction with services, safety, and safeguarding enquiries.

The figures were released by the Department of Health and Social Care for 2024/25.

Rutland was also placed in the top 20 councils nationally in 10 out of the 19 categories that local authorities are rated on.

Adult social care is the council’s biggest expense and will cost Rutland an estimated £27m next year.

Coun Diane Ellison (Lib Dem), cabinet member for adults and health, said: “These exceptional results are a real testament to the dedication and compassion of our adult social care teams and partners.

“Being ranked number one nationally in such important areas shows that our focus on people and outcomes is making a genuine difference to residents’ lives.

“I am incredibly proud of the way our services support people to feel safe, valued and in control, and this recognition reinforces our commitment to continue delivering high quality, person-centred care for adults across Rutland.”

Last week the council launched a new website for adult social care, helped by local residents who use Rutland’s various support services.

Bosses say the new platform aims to make it easier for people to find clear, accessible information to help them live independently, stay well and access the right support at the right time.

The site is designed to be simple and easy to navigate, with clearer information on care and support options, guidance for carers, and self‑help tools to promote independence.
