Three new housing schemes have been given the go ahead by a local authority.

A Langton Homes scheme for 125 homes on green fields south of Leicester Road, Uppingham, was approved unanimously by Rutland county councillors.

The Davidson Homes development will include a number of affordable houses, a zebra crossing and a cycle route.

Carl Stocks, speaking on behalf of Davidson Homes, said their chosen housing mix was based on the commercial demand in the town, and that larger homes sell more quickly than two-bedroom houses.

A planning application for five bedroom homes on a field in Market Overton, close to The Lodge Trust, which cares for adults with learning difficulties, was also approved, as was a Hereward Homes application for five bungalows on land north of Luffenham Road, Barrowden. This, though, was the against the recommendation of officers.
