Living Well Event in Rutland Aims to Bring Community Together
Oakham hosts major showcase of health, education and family support services for all ages
People across Rutland are being welcomed to an event today aimed at connecting families, children and older people with a wide range of support and services in the county.
The Living Well in Rutland event is taking place at Oakham Library, the Family Hub and Oakham Castle, running from 10am to 2pm.
Dozens of organisations are on hand to offer advice on health care, education, parenting, and wellbeing, as well as practical help for different stages of life.
Highlights include the My Bike scheme, where refurbished bikes are being given away at Oakham Castle, plus children’s storytime sessions and interactive treasure trails for families.
Visitors can also find out how to access everything from early years services and parenting support to resources for older people.
Councillor Tim Smith, Cabinet Member for Transport, Environment and Communities at Rutland County Council, says it’s all about making support easy to find:
“Living Well in Rutland is a fantastic opportunity for residents to connect with local services and discover the support available to them and their families. We’re looking forward to welcoming the community for a day that is both informative and fun.”
The event is a collaboration between Rutland County Council’s Living Well Rutland service and the government’s Best Start in Life programme, with a focus on giving families the joined-up help they need.
Councillor Smith added:
“We want everyone to know what’s out there and to feel confident accessing the help and activities on offer. Today’s event is all about bringing people together and making sure no one misses out.”
