Man dies after being trapped under own vehicle in Lynton

A man has died after being trapped under his own vehicle in Lynton, Devon.

Devon and Cornwall Police say it happened on North Walk Hill at around 1:15 on Saturday afternoon, involving a white Renault recovery truck.

Police say the 23 year old, from the Plymouth area, was pronounced dead at the scene and an investigation is underway.

In a statement, officers said: "We are appealing for witnesses and information following a fatal road traffic collision on North Walk Hill, in Lynton, Devon.

"Officers were called at around 1.15pm on Saturday 22 November to reports of a collision involving a white Renault recovery truck and a man.

"A 23-year-old man from the Plymouth area, who had become trapped under his own vehicle, was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.

"His next of kin have been informed.

"The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the scene. It was reopened in the early hours of Sunday 23 November.
