Matt Bloomfield 'disappointed' by Oxford United sacking
He's released a statement after he was let go in June
Matt Bloomfield has spoken out for the first time since he was sacked as Oxford United boss, revealing he’s disappointed.
He lost his job in June after Oxford were relegated to League One. His replacement is Aaron Ramsey, the ex-Arsenal and Wales midfielder.
Bloomfield expressed his sentiment in a statement to the League Managers Association, saying: "Despite being unable to make up the points deficit we inherited, I'm proud of the players, coaching staff and tireless work we put in to turn the season around – the players gave everything, and I believe that if we had longer together, the outcome would have been different."
He added: "Naturally, I'm disappointed not to be taking things forward. I was excited to continue this work and implement our clear vision to evolve the playing style and move the club forward."
