Emergency services deal with person in water near Donnington Bridge

Police have attended an emergency near Donnington Bridge.

It happened at around 5.45pm yesterday, when officers were called to the River Thames, after reports of a person in difficulty in the water.

Officers went to the scene, alongside colleagues from the Fire and Rescue Service and South Central Ambulance Service.

The bridge was temporarily closed while emergency services responded.

It has since re-opened to traffic.

An Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service provided an operational response alongside colleagues from the police and ambulance service to the Donnington Bridge Road area comprising fire appliances and a boat.”

One ambulance, one specialist paramedic and one operational commander were sent to the incident.
