Police enforce order after reports of crime and anti-social behaviour

A Section 34 Dispersal Order is in effect in Oxford city centre covering Bonn Square, Queen Street, and New Inn Hall Street in response to reports of recent disturbances.

The order follows incidents of crime and anti-social behaviour over the last two days, including arrests for public order offences, weapon possession, and assault.

This action is associated with an increase in street drinking during warmer weather.

The dispersal order grants police enhanced powers to direct individuals causing disruption to leave the designated area.

Failure to comply with the order may result in committing an offence and subsequent arrest.

Thames Valley Police aim to ensure the safety of Oxford city centre for residents, businesses, and visitors.

The order remains in place until 15:45hrs on 26th June 2026.
