Teenage boy from Didcot arrested in terrorism investigation
Suspected possession of material usable for terrorism lead police to searches
A 16-year-old boy from Didcot has been arrested in connection with a terrorism offence following a pre-planned operation by Counter Terrorism Policing South East.
He was taken into custody on suspicion of possessing material that could be used for terrorist purposes, in violation of Section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
As part of the investigation, officers are conducting searches at residential locations and surrounding areas in Didcot.
Although the investigation is ongoing, Chief Superintendent Ben Clark from Oxfordshire assured the public that there is no perceived threat to wider safety.
He encouraged residents to approach officers carrying out additional patrols if they have concerns or need support.
