Police investigation into fatal Bicester Motion fire concludes

The investigation has been handed over to the Health and Safety Executive

Thames Valley Police has finished its investigation into a fatal fire at Bicester Motion that claimed the lives of three people.

The force has confirmed it has handed the case over to the Health and Safety Executive.

Firefighters Martyn Sadler and Jennie Logan, along with local man Dave Chester, lost their lives following a fire at the business park on Buckingham Road on the 15th of May 2025.

Two other firefighters sustained serious injuries during the incident.

The police Major Crime Unit investigated the fire alongside HSE, but have not referred any charges to the Crown Prosecution Service.

A file is being prepared for the coroner, and the police say they will support the upcoming inquest.

Assistant Chief Constable Dennis Murray expressed condolences: “Our thorough investigation into this tragic incident alongside the HSE has now been completed and we are not seeking any prosecutions.

“We have now formally handed the investigation to the HSE and will support the coroner’s inquest.”

A Health and Safety Executive spokesperson said: “We are now leading the investigation into the circumstances about what happened.”
