Funeral of legendary NI broadcaster Gerry Kelly to take place later
The 77-year-old died peacefully at his home on Sunday
The funeral of one of Northern Ireland's most loved broadcasters, Gerry Kelly, will take place in Ardglass in County Down this afternoon.
The 77-year-old died peacefully at his home on Sunday morning.
During his long-spanning career the Ballymena-born presenter fronted a programme on Downtown Radio called ‘Kelly on the Radio’, however he was perhaps best known for his weekly talk show on UTV from 1989 until 2005.
Notable guests on 'The Kelly Show' included a young old Rory McIlroy, Garth Brooks, and George Best.
In 2018, Kelly revealed he had been diagnosed with cancer two years earlier.
Tributes have been paid from across Northern Ireland's broadcasting family with Downtown Radio describing him as "one of Northern Ireland's most loved television broadcasters".
