Superintendent Paul Cash, overseeing Northamptonshire Police’s response, emphasized a zero-tolerance approach to offences masked under the guise of football fervour.
Historically, domestic abuse, hate crime, and public disorder have seen an uptick during major tournaments, but Northamptonshire Police aims to avoid this in the county.
Competitiveness should not escalate to hate crime, which will face stringent enforcement, including potential football banning orders for offenders, Superintendent Cash explained.
Continual vigilance will be maintained against domestic abuse and violence, a top Force priority, with reminders that frustration over team performance is no justification for violence.
Drink and drug driving enforcement continues year-round on Northamptonshire’s roads, with officers patrolling 24/7 to prevent unsafe driving practices during the event.
