Latest Taser model aims to enhance policing and accountability
Northamptonshire Police is rolling out the new Taser 10 to more than 400 officers to enhance operational capabilities across the county.
Officers from various roles, including neighbourhood teams, road policing, and armed units, will get the updated Taser as part of their gear.
Chief Taser Instructor Chloë Hegarty-Boatman stated that the Taser 10 is designed to support both public and officer safety by providing effective equipment and training for handling incidents that involve armed or violent individuals or those experiencing a crisis.
The Taser 10 offers several advancements over previous models, including a longer operational range, improved accuracy, and better data-recording features. These enhancements aim to provide officers with more options during fast-moving situations while promoting transparency and accountability in Taser use.
Northamptonshire Police encourages more officers to pursue Taser training, with a particular focus on increasing female representation among trained users. Chloë said, "We want our Taser-trained officers to reflect the diverse workforce we have across Northamptonshire Police.
"We're encouraging more female officers to come forward and consider becoming Taser trained."
