Northamptonshire horse named tallest in the world by Guinness World Records
Hugo the Shire horse stands at a towering 199cm
A Shire horse from Northamptonshire has been named the tallest horse living in the world.
Hugo, who is four years old and from Towcester, has been given the Guinness World Records title after measuring 199cm - that's 6ft 6.3in - to the withers.
Despite his enormous size, both of Hugo's parents were fairly average in stature, making his rapid growth something of a surprise.
His height was officially assessed by a veterinarian.
The giant horse was measured without shoes to make sure the result was accurate.
His owner, Lisa Masters, said he's "a big softie, like an oversized dog".
Hugo is one of the new record holders featured in Guinness World Records 2027.
The latest edition of the famous annual celebrates record-breaking people and animals from around the world, under the theme "Be Part of It".
