A murder investigation is underway in Northampton, after the death of a teenage boy in the Abington area.

Police responded to reports of a stabbing on Adnitt Road just before 7pm on Tuesday (7 July).

Despite efforts from the public, police, and paramedics, the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers have implemented police cordons at Adnitt Road and Dallington Park as investigations continue.

The public is advised to avoid these areas where possible.

Detective Chief Inspector Ryan Catling from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit Major Crime Team described the inquiry as 'fast-moving': We know this incident will cause a lot of concern for the local community and I want to offer reassurance that we are doing all we can to establish what has happened and identify those responsible.

“Our neighbourhood policing team will be conducting patrols throughout the day, and I would encourage anyone with concerns to approach one of our officers who will be happy to help.

“As part of our investigation we want to hear from anyone in Adnitt Road or the surrounding streets who may have captured any footage on CCTV or doorbells, or indeed if anyone driving in the area captured anything on a dash-cam.

“Any small piece of information or footage is useful and could be the vital detail we need as part of our enquiry.”
