Detectives have commenced a murder investigation following the discovery of a man's body in Burton Latimer.
Police responded to a concern for welfare call and arrived at a High Street property on the afternoon of Wednesday, 2nd September.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a man in his 50s who had likely died several days earlier.
A forensic postmortem was conducted at Leicester Royal Infirmary on Thursday, 3rd September, which prompted the launch of a murder investigation spearheaded by detectives from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit.
Detective Inspector Cheryl Thompson stated, "We’re in the early stages of establishing how the gentleman died, and I would appeal for anyone in the High Street area of Burton Latimer who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the last week to please contact us as a matter of emergency."
