Free event for mature drivers continues in Northamptonshire
Northamptonshire Safer Roads Alliance is introducing a new scheme named 'CarKraft for Mature Drivers' as a regular part of its road safety programme
Following a pilot event last September, Northamptonshire Safer Roads Alliance (NSRA) is introducing a new scheme named 'CarKraft for Mature Drivers' as a regular part of its road safety programme.
The alliance says that "for many, driving represents independence, freedom and the ability to stay connected with family, friends, and the local community".
The NSRA aims to help drivers aged 60 and over to remain 'confident, safe, and mobile for as long as possible'.
The event has been specifically designed for the over 60s and offers advice and the opportunity to 'refresh' key driving skills.
Participants will take part in:
o Appropriate speed choice
o Understanding road signs and markings
o Roundabouts and complex junctions
o Hazard perception and observation
o Modern vehicle technology and driver assistance systems
o Fitness to drive and future planning
o Eyesight and driving
The event is closed with an assessed drive with a qualified Approved Driving Instructor (ADI).
There is also the opportunity to book a free hints and tips drive with Northampton Advanced Motorists.
The event takes place on Monday, September 21, at Sedgebrook Hall, Chapel Brampton, NN6 8BD.
