Man appears in court charged over Chelveston murder

He's been remanded into custody

A 50-year-old man has appeared in court today, charged with the murder of Helen Bird in Chelveston.

The violence unfolded on 2nd February in High Street, Chelveston, where the 47-year-old was attacked inside a home.

She was admitted to the hospital with severe injuries but tragically passed away on 10th February.

James Daniel Bird, residing on High Street, Chelveston, stood before Northampton Magistrates’ Court this morning (10/03/2026) facing murder charges connected to her death.

Bird has been remanded in custody.

His next court appearance is set for Thursday, 12th March, at Northampton Crown Court.
