Kettering Women's Centre triples support services with grant boost
Commissioner's funding expands resources for vulnerable women
A grant from Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Danielle Stone has enabled Kettering Women's Centre to greatly expand its support services, helping three times as many women since receiving the funding.
The Women's Centre, run by C2C Social Action, extended its opening hours from three to four days a week after benefiting from the Safe and Sound Communities Fund in June 2025.
This expansion boosted the number of women supported each month from 30 to an average of 100.
Designed to provide trauma-informed care through one-to-one sessions, group workshops, and drop-ins, the Centre assists women at risk of or involved in the criminal justice system with the aim of reducing reoffending and enhancing wellbeing.
"The grant I awarded to the Kettering Women’s Centre has contributed to helping so many women who need support in rebuilding their lives," Danielle Stone said, emphasising the impact of the funding.
The £9,996 grant has allowed for an expansion of services and supports the Centre's operations, including offering space for partner organisations to provide comprehensive assistance.
C2C Social Action CEO Michelle Shaw shared her view on the grant’s impact:
“This really has helped women turn their lives around, move away from crime, poverty, abuse and exploitation, and bring hope to them and their families.”
Looking to further meet the rising demand, the Women's Centre aims to open five days a week to assist more women.
Stone expressed pride in supporting the Women's Centre through the Safe and Sound Communities Fund.
"Helping organisations that make a real difference is exactly what the Safe and Sound Communities Fund is designed for, and I am proud that we have been able to support them," Stone said.
