Kettering man's breaches lead to jail time
38-year-old Liam Pink sentenced for online child sex offences
A 38-year-old man from Kettering has been sentenced to more than four years in prison after breaching a Sexual Risk Order (SRO) during an investigation into online child sex offences.
Liam Pink was issued with the civil order in October 2022 at Northampton Magistrates’ Court following allegations made by an online activist group.
The group claimed that between 12th and 28th August, Pink had engaged in explicit online conversations with a 12-year-old girl who did not exist and was instead a decoy.
Northamptonshire Police secured the five-year SRO, which imposed conditions on Pink, including restrictions on unsupervised contact or communication with children under 16 and limitations on internet and social media use.
Police officers arrested Pink on 9th April during a routine visit after discovering breaches of the SRO on his mobile phone.
Between 1st January and 31st March, evidence suggested that Pink had contact with a child under the age of two without the parent’s awareness of the SRO, and he had failed to inform police about an alternate social media account.
Pink pleaded guilty to online child sex offences and three breaches of the SRO at Northampton Magistrates’ Court on 3rd June.
His case proceeded to Northampton Crown Court, where on 13th July he was sentenced to four years and four months in jail.
He was also given an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and placed on the Sex Offenders Register.
Risk Management Officer Libbie Stiff said: “We take an absolute zero-tolerance approach to situations like this. Liam Pink’s repeat offending showed that he had a blatant disregard for the sanctions imposed by the court, and I am pleased that this sentence reflects the serious risk that he poses.
“I also hope this case reassures the public that we are working proactively to continue to keep children in Northamptonshire safe from online predators and to bring anyone who threatens that safety to justice.”
