A flat in Kettering has been subjected to a three-month closure order following persistent drug-related activity and anti-social behaviour affecting the surrounding community.

The order, issued at Wellingborough Magistrates’ Court on 6th October, was sought after numerous reports of drug dealings and misuse at the property in Jobs Court, causing distress to residents.

Residents reported consistent shouting and banging, alongside people attempting to access the building by pressing intercoms of other flats at all hours.

The Kettering Neighbourhood Policing Team collaborated with the Anti-Social Behaviour Civil Orders Team and PA Housing to gather evidence and apply for enforcement action under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

The closure order lasts until 5th January 2027, making it illegal for unauthorized individuals to access the flat, with potential penalties including fines or up to 51 weeks in prison.

PC Gemma Cairns of Northamptonshire Police expressed gratitude towards PC Tracy Maltby and community members for their contributions, noting the distress faced by residents due to abusive visitors and drug activities.

Emma Conlon, Director of Tenancy Management at PA Housing added: “We take reports of anti-social behaviour extremely seriously and will take action to tackle it and prevent it impacting other residents, or members of the local community.

“A key part of this is working closely with partner agencies and our strong relationship with the local policing team in Kettering has helped them take firm action against the perpetrators to achieve this outcome.”
