A body has been found in Northampton’s River Nene.

Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the Northampton Marina, off Victoria Promenade, shortly after 7.30pm on Saturday (21 February) following reports of a man seen struggling in the water.

Extensive searches have continued involving specialist teams from Northamptonshire Police, volunteers from Northamptonshire Search and Rescue and crews from Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Late yesterday afternoon (24 February), an underwater search team using specialist underwater thermal imaging equipment sadly found the body of a man.

Northamptonshire Police said formal identification is yet to take place, but officers are providing support to the family of a local man, who have asked for privacy at this time.
