A woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following an assault in York.

Police were called to reports of a man in his 30s suffering life-threatening injuries at an address in the Rawden Avenue area before midnight on Saturday 28th December.

Officers say the man was taken to hospital with serious injuries but was discharged the following day and is continuing to receive treatment for his injuries.

In the early hours of this morning (9th January), a 44-year-old woman from York, who had been wanted in connection with the incident, was arrested.

North Yorkshire Police are reassuring residents in the local community that they believe it to be an isolated incident and that there is no wider threat to the public.
