Scarborough community members are invited to participate in a special Covid Reflection Service on Sunday, 8th March 2026 at 2:00pm, as part of National Covid Reflection Day.

Organised with the support of local partners, the event at St Mark’s Church on Coldyhill Lane aims to honour individuals affected by the pandemic, especially those who could not receive traditional funerals or farewells.

George Roberts of G Roberts Independent Family Funeral Directors emphasised the significance of the event, explaining, “The Covid pandemic touched every one of us in different ways, but for many families, the most painful part was not being able to say goodbye to their loved ones in the way they would have wished."

"This reflection service is an opportunity for those families to come together, remember those they lost, and find comfort in a shared act of remembrance."

Additionally, the event will recognise the dedication of key workers and emergency services, reflecting on their invaluable contributions during the pandemic.

Roberts remarked, “We also want to take time to acknowledge the extraordinary dedication of our key workers, NHS staff, care workers, emergency services and volunteers who supported our communities through an incredibly challenging period."

"Their compassion and commitment helped so many people and should never be forgotten," he added.
