Police investigate racially-aggravated assault in York
He was left unconscious and suffered several injuries, including a broken front tooth
Police have launched an investigation after a man was knocked unconscious in a racially-aggravated assault in Tang Hall, York.
The incident happened at around 1.30am on Monday (29 September) on Alcuin Avenue, when a group of youths on e-bikes reportedly approached the victim and surrounded him.
The group are said to have verbally abused the man before attacking him.
He was left unconscious and suffered several injuries, including a broken front tooth, facial swelling and grazes to his hands.
The victim believes he was targeted because of his ethnicity.
Officers are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “We have launched a full investigation and we are appealing for anyone who witnessed anything and hasn’t yet spoken to us to get in touch.
"We’re also keen to hear from anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident or the moments leading up to it."
