Man airlifted to hospital after three vehicle crash on A648

A man has been airlifted to hospital following a serious road traffic collision that occurred near Northallerton.

It happened yesterday (Friday 24 October) shortly after 1.15pm on Dolly Lane, in Yafforth near to Northallerton Equestrian Centre.

It involved a red Suzuki SV1000 motorcycle, a silver Ford Transit panel van and a silver Landrover Discovery.

The Ford Transit van and the motorcycle were travelling on Dolly Lane away from Yafforth and the Landrover was travelling in the opposite direction, away from the A684.

Following the collision the rider of the motorcycle, a man in his sixties, was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

The drivers of the other vehicles are assisting officers with their enquiries.

The road was closed until around 8.30pm to allow for collision investigation work to take place and the vehicles to be recovered.
