Malton Hospital fire thought to have started at solar panel

A fire that forced patients and staff to evacuate a Malton hospital ward is believed to have started at one of the building's solar panels.
Firefighters were called to a fire at the Springwood ward on the Malton and Norton District Hospital site on 8 July.
Everyone inside was evacuated and nobody was injured.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service has now said that the fire most likely started at one of the solar panels on the roof.
Due to the damage caused to the panels during the fire, it's not been possible to determine any further details about the cause though, a spokesperson said.
A full report into the fire is expected in the coming weeks.
The trust said the building's fire safety systems worked as they were supposed to at the time.
It added that it's continuing to manage the site to make sure it remains safe.
