Temporary road closures and affected water supply in YO26
Emergency crews have responded to reports of a burst 21-inch water main, leading to flooding in a residential street on Balfour Street, York.
The flooding, first reported on Sunday night, 19th July, has impacted two premises, necessitating swift action to pump out the basement of a public house and block water access to another affected property.
City of York Council has assumed control of the situation.
The incident has resulted in a temporary road closure, affecting streets including Salisbury Terrace, Jubilee Terrace, Stephenson Way, Carnot Street, Roseberry Street, and Balfour Street.
Swinnerton Avenue's bollards have been removed to redirect vehicles onto Lincoln Street for repair works.
Residents in the YO26 postcode area are advised they may experience no water or low water pressure during this period.
Restoration of normal water supply is a priority, although water may temporarily appear cloudy or discoloured upon returning.
Running taps for several minutes should help clear any discolouration.
