Alfie Boe to return to Scarborough for open air theatre show with Wicked stars
Tenor has performed at the venue four times before
One of Britain's best-loved musical theatre starts is heading back to the Yorkshire coast.
Alfie Boe will perform at Scarborough Open Air Theatre on Sunday 25th July 2027, joined by West End and Broadway stars Louise Dearman, Kerry Ellis and Rachel Tucker as his special guests.
It will be a welcome return for Boe, who has performed at the venue four times before.
The trio joining him, known for their roles in Wicked, will bring their show Gravity to the stage.
Boe is a graduate of the Royal College of Music who went on to train at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden.
He achieved global recognition performing leading roles with major opera companies before becoming known as the definitive Jean Valjean in Les Misérables, a role he has played in the West End, on Broadway and on the production's 40th anniversary world tour, including a performance at Radio City Music Hall in New York.
He has also released more than a dozen studio albums and performed at some of the world's most prestigious venues, including Buckingham Palace for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the Royal Albert Hall.
Ellis was the first British actress to play Elphaba in Wicked, Dearman is the only performer to have played both Elphaba and Glinda in the show, and Tucker has played Elphaba on both Broadway and in the West End.
Their Gravity show brings together stage favourites including We Will Rock You, Cats, Oliver!, My Fair Lady, Miss Saigon, Les Misérables, Guys and Dolls, Evita, Joseph, The Great Gatsby, Sunset Boulevard and Chicago.
Julian Murray, of promoters Cuffe and Taylor, who programme Scarborough Open Air Theatre, said: "This will be another special night on the Yorkshire coast.
"Combining the powerhouse vocals of Alfie Boe with the triumvirate of musical theatre royalty that is Gravity will make this an incredible night and one that will be absolutely adored by fans of musical theatre."
Tickets go on general sale on Friday.
