Young people invited to shape future of Norfolk Wildlife Trust
Centenary year initiative opens doors for new Youth Advisory Board
As Norfolk Wildlife Trust (NWT) celebrates its centenary year, it invites young people aged 18 to 25 to join its new Youth Advisory Board, placing them at the centre of nature conservation in Norfolk.
Funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, this initiative will empower young individuals to influence key issues affecting Norfolk’s natural spaces and engage with charity leadership on community nature campaigns.
Youth Advisory Board members will participate in discussions, events, workshops, and training, all aimed at enacting positive change for Norfolk’s wildlife and communities.
Alex Day, Senior Youth Engagement Officer at NWT, expressed enthusiasm about integrating young voices into the charity's mission: "Looking after our wildlife holds the key to a healthy and happy world for future generations."
"You don’t need any previous experience of nature conservation," Day assured, "just enthusiasm, a passion to learn and grow, and a desire to work together to help wildlife, our planet, and people."
Participants will gain leadership experience, collaborate with expert environmentalists, and make impactful contributions to local wildlife.
The Board requires its members to convene monthly, usually on Wednesday evenings, and dedicate additional hours for learning and planning efforts.
Opportunities for team building, volunteering, and engaging in quarterly Trustee meetings form part of the program.
Applicants must be available for the two-year tenure starting this September and be able to attend meetings at NWT's Norwich offices near Norwich Railway Station.
All associated expenses, including food and travel, will be covered.
