Enquiries are continuing into the deaths of two men found a week apart at the same property in Watton.

Police were called to a house in Changi Road, Watton at 7.44pm on Monday (20 October) following the discovery of the body of a man in his 60s.

A Home Office post-mortem examination took place yesterday (23 October) with the cause of death pending further investigation. His next of kin have been updated.

The body of another man, in his 40s and also living at the property, was found at the same address on Monday 13 October at 5.56am after police were called to reports of a sudden death.

A post-mortem examination has been carried out and is pending toxicology results. A file is being prepared for the coroner. Police are carrying out further enquiries to update his next of kin.

Gas engineers have carried out extensive testing at the property and can find no evidence of carbon monoxide gas.

Detective Chief Inspector Matt Stuart said: “Officers are working to understand the full circumstances around the deaths, which are being treated as unexplained but not thought to be suspicious.

“We do not believe the two deaths are linked or that there is any third party involvement at this stage.

“We know this will have been a shock to the local community, but we would like to reassure them we are progressing with the investigation and do not believe there is any risk to the wider public.”

Both men had sadly been declared deceased at the property by ambulance.

A cordon was in place at the address while police carried out their enquiries which has now been removed.
