Norwich man jailed after string of thefts, burglary and robbery
Chris Cassar admitted nine offences and asked for twelve more to be considered
A man has been jailed after carrying out a series of thefts, a burglary and a robbery across Norwich.
53-year-old Chris Cassar, of Thurlby Road, Norwich, was sentenced to 20 months in prison at Norwich Crown Court on Thursday 8th October 2026, after admitting robbery, burglary and seven theft offences.
The court heard that Cassar stole around £1,000 worth of tools from an outbuilding in Ringland.
He also threatened a shop worker before stealing cash from a till, along with cigarettes.
Cassar also admitted stealing an electric bike and six separate thefts from shops across Norwich.
Officers investigating the offences identified Cassar from CCTV footage gathered during their enquiries.
He also asked for a further twelve offences to be taken into consideration when he was sentenced, after engaging with Operation Converter, the unit that investigates offenders suspected of similar crimes.
Duncan Etchells, police staff supervisor for Operation Converter, said: "Cassar is a prolific offender whose actions had a significant impact on local businesses, their staff, and members of the public.
"Thanks to the efforts of officers and our retail partners, he was identified and brought before the courts. We hope this sentence reassures retailers that we will continue to target those who commit these types of offences."
