Norfolk eating disorder charity seeing one of busiest starts to year
It comes as Norwich-based charity BEAT is launching a new online platform- make help more accessible
A local eating disorder charity tells us they've seen one of their busiest starts to year, since forming.
Beat's based in Norwich and is rolling out new video toolkit- to mark eating disorder awareness week.
"We're starting to see a lot of these calls since the start of the year"
Kerri Fleming is a mental health nurse that works for the group:
"We know that it's extremely important for those with eating disorders and those caring for those with eating disorders to have a community and support network around them, to support them through what that journey looks like.
"So this year we're branching out to a lot more areas, a lot more things we haven't branched into before.
"We are seeing a lot more people looking to see what support is out there for them. People asking to speak to their GP, how to bring up the conversation and start them in the household, people who are worried out their friends and family.
"We're starting to see a lot of these calls since the start of the year".
What does this toolkit involve?
It's called 'AskBeat' and is a collection of video responses to the most commonly asked questions to the charity's Helpline team, with responses provided.
It can provide quick spoken summaries to important questions, with a signpost to more detailed advice or help.
