Man jailed after being caught with cocaine in Fakenham
Officers spotted suspicious behaviour before a short chase led to the discovery of dozens of drug wraps
A 20-year-old man has been sentenced to prison after being found in possession of Class A drugs in Fakenham.
Juljan Mexhaj, from Oak Street, appeared at Norwich Crown Court on 2 June 2026, where he was sentenced for possession with intent to supply following events earlier in March.
The court heard that on 18 March 2026, police officers observed Mexhaj acting in a way that raised suspicion in Fakenham Churchyard. When officers approached him to speak, he ran from the area, prompting a brief pursuit through nearby streets before he was detained on Church Lanes.
Following his arrest, officers searched him and discovered a cigarette packet in his jacket containing multiple small wraps of white powder. In total, 29 individual bags of cocaine were recovered.
Mexhaj was taken into custody at King’s Lynn Police Investigation Centre, where he was interviewed and later charged.
At sentencing, he received 21 months in prison. The court also ruled that he will be considered for deportation after completing his sentence and ordered him to pay £298 in fees.
