Hugh Jackman in talks to buy stake in Norwich City
Despite being Wolverine, Jackman's a Canary and says he's 'very interested' in following Ryan Reynolds into football ownership
Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman has revealed he's in talks about buying a stake in Norwich City.
The Wolverine star, a lifelong Canaries fan, made the admission during an interview while promoting his new film.
Asked whether he would follow fellow actor Ryan Reynolds into football ownership, Jackman said he was "very interested and talking about it right now".
A lifelong Norwich fan
Jackman has supported Norwich City since childhood, despite growing up in Australia.
He explained that his English parents emigrated Down Under, and that the family would stay up to watch the FA Cup in the early hours.
Jackman said he picked his team after asking his parents where they were from.
"I said, 'Mom, where are you from?' She went, 'Norwich'," he said.
"I went, 'Is there a football team in Norwich?' He went, 'Yep.' I said, 'That's my team.'"
'This is the year'
Jackman was upbeat about the season ahead, backing the team to go up under manager Philippe Clement.
"This is the year we're going to get promoted," he said.
"My prediction is Norwich and Wrexham are getting promoted this year."
He praised the club's form and their manager, adding: "Look at that turnaround. We were the top team in the second half of last year."
The interview follows long-running speculation about Jackman investing in the club.
In 2011, he said he regretted turning down an earlier chance to become a "celebrity investor" at Norwich.
Norwich City's majority owner is Mark Attanasio, who increased his stake in the club in 2024.
