Strike by Great Yarmouth council workers halted after new offer
Workers to vote on improved terms and conditions
Planned strikes by maintenance and repair staff at Great Yarmouth Borough Council (GYBC) have been halted following a new offer concerning terms and conditions.
Forty workers, members of Unite the union, were scheduled to begin industrial action on Monday, 19th October.
The strike was due to continue through Tuesday, 20th October, as part of the ongoing dispute over employment terms.
Following negotiations, the council has presented an improved offer, and the union has decided to pause the planned strikes.
Unite regional officer Keith Henderson said: "Following negotiations with Great Yarmouth Borough Council, we have paused industrial action to allow members to have their say on the new offer."
Workers will now be balloted on whether or not to accept the offer.
