Tribute paid to 40-year-old woman killed in North Shields
Family remembers Lisa Denton's warmth and humour
A family has paid tribute to a North Shields woman who died following a suspected assault.
The alleged assault occurred shortly after 10pm on 24th January on Russell Street, resulting in Lisa Denton, aged 40, sustaining a serious head injury.
She was transported to the hospital for treatment but sadly passed away the following morning.
Lisa's family shared their tribute, describing her as someone with a warm and genuine personality and a dry sense of humour.
They spoke of her ability to make people feel seen and welcomed, her dedication and love for life, and the lasting impression she left on those around her.
Lisa was remembered as a "good, honest, and hardworking person" who lived with purpose, whether at the gym or among loved ones.
Her family noted the tragic circumstances of her loss and expressed that her spirit and legacy will endure through the lives she touched.
A 19-year-old man was charged with manslaughter on 26th January in connection with Lisa's death.
Detective Inspector Andrew Miller from the Force’s Major Investigation Team spoke about the importance of gathering information from potential witnesses who may have been in the area at the time of the incident.
He emphasized the need to understand the full picture of what happened on the night Lisa lost her life and reminded the public to avoid speculating on social media.
