Commuters and concert goers using the Tyne and Wear Metro on Tuesday, 9th June should prepare for an exceptionally busy day as Take That performs at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland.

Nexus, the operator of the Metro system, cautioned that services, particularly on the Pelaw to South Hylton branch, will face high demand from 3pm onwards. This branch includes the East Boldon station, which is expected to see a surge in passengers.

Doors for the concert will open at 5pm, with crowd management measures planned to ensure safety. According to Nexus, queues might form outside Newcastle city centre stations between 3pm and 8pm as they handle large crowds.

Additionally, after the concert, Metro passengers should anticipate further crowd control arrangements. Nexus reassured that additional services will run on the Pelaw to South Hylton branch, although these will remain busy. Travellers should allocate extra time for their journeys.

Specific travel advice suggests that individuals with purple, red, or yellow entry tickets should head to Stadium of Light Metro station, while those with blue, green, orange, platinum, or pink accessible entry tickets are recommended to use St Peter's Metro station.
