Reports of gun fired at vehicle in Newcastle
Police are investigating reports a gun was fired in a street in Newcastle yesterday evening
An investigation has been launched after a suspected firearm was reported to have been discharged in a Newcastle street.
At 5.50pm yesterday, officers were informed of a disturbance on Henshaw Place in the Denton area of the city.
It was reported that two people on an e-bike had pulled up behind a parked vehicle and a suspected firearm was discharged from one of the people on the bike towards the unoccupied parked vehicle.
The offenders then left the area.
No-one is reported to have been injured in the incident, and a full investigation has now been launched by Northumbria Police’s Major Investigation Team (MIT).
Officers are today appealing for anyone with information concerning the report to contact them.
They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage.
Detective Inspector Andrew Miller, of MIT, said: “Our officers remain at the scene to carry out a range of enquiries and also to reassure those living in the area following the events yesterday.
“Our investigation is at an early stage and we would ask that anyone who has information regarding what took place to contact us.
“Your information – no matter how small or insignificant you think it may be – could help us to piece together exactly what happened.”
