Newcastle-Gateshead’s Raval Indian Brasserie & Bar has won the 2026 OpenTable Diners’ Choice Award, highlighting its popularity among diners.

The award is determined by verified feedback submitted through OpenTable, a platform where diners can rate their restaurant experiences.

Raval, located on the iconic Tyne Bridge in Gateshead, specialises in regional Indian cuisine.

Its menu features dishes like Lobster Mango and Darjeeling Lamb Cutlets, showcasing coastal flavours and open-fire cooking.

This latest accolade adds to Raval’s growing reputation as one of the North East’s most renowned Indian restaurants.

Previously, it was named “National Champion” in the 2025 British Indian Good Food Guide, marking a first for the region with its top national distinction.

The restaurant has also drawn a star-studded clientele, including celebrities such as Johnny Depp and Sir Ian McKellen.

Nas Islam, Manager of Raval, expressed gratitude for the award.

“Winning National Champion last year was a proud moment for our team and for the North East hospitality industry,” Islam said.

“Receiving the OpenTable Diners’ Choice Award now means even more because it comes directly from diner feedback and customer experience.”

Raval continues to be a standout in the Newcastle-Gateshead dining scene.
