The first-ever at home testicular cancer testing kits are being praised by Newcastle Falcon's players.

The kits are currently being rolled out within sports teams across the UK to raise awareness among young male athletes.

The kits, from Testicular Cancer Society, are based off anti-doping tests and offer a straightforward check through a urine sample before being sent off to be analysed. The results are then sent promptly back.

Former Newcastle Falcon’s player, Sam Clark, said: “If we can help men rule out testicular cancer, we’re taking a big step in the right direction.

“There’s such a big stigma within men to hide away and not talk about their problems, so these new tests are so important in starting conversations about testicular cancer and breaking down these barriers.

“So when you go home, go to the pub, or out to see your mates, just chat about it and ask if they’ve checked themselves recently, or if they’ve heard about these kits.

“For men to be able to test themselves, it’s all going towards the fight against cancer.”

Around 2,400 men are diagnosed with testicular cancer each year in the UK, making it the most common cancer among men aged 15 to 45.
